Who should take the test?

Testosterone, primarily linked to male characteristics, influences traits like beard growth, male organ development, and sexual potency. Yet, women, despite having much lower levels (20 to 30 times less than men), also benefit from testosterone. It boosts mood, assertiveness, and sexual desire in both genders.

The test analyzes the morning values of the following hormone:

  • Testosterone

Our Testosterone Test helps you to find out whether your testosterone level is in a healthy balance, so that your body can profit from all of these positive properties.

Testosterone, primarily linked to male characteristics like beard growth, male organ development, and sexual potency, also plays a crucial role in women, despite their significantly lower production (20 to 30 times less than men). It benefits heart, brain, and bone health, supports muscle growth, aids in fat breakdown, combats diabetes and high blood pressure, and lowers cholesterol levels.

Furthermore, testosterone contributes to mood improvement, assertiveness, and sexual desire in both genders. It enhances sexual sensitivity, making it easier for women to achieve orgasm.

Maintaining a healthy testosterone level is essential for reaping these benefits, as deficiency can lead to various issues listed above, while excess can result in excessive aggressiveness, acne, oily skin, and unwanted body hair in women.

Testosterone deficiency can affect women as well as men.

Any Questions?

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions regarding this test. Your question is missing? Please contact us at:

Why is testosterone important for men and women?

Testosterone is essential for various aspects of health and well-being. It plays a crucial role in muscle building, weight regulation, beard growth (in men), muscle tone, bone health, mood regulation, assertiveness, and sexual desire in both men and women.

Do men and women have different testosterone levels?

Yes, men typically have higher testosterone levels than women. However, even though women produce significantly less testosterone (20 to 30 times less than men), it still plays an important role in their overall vitality and well-being.

Does "the more the better" apply to testosterone?

No. Every hormone has a certain scope in which the values must lie so that our body remains healthy. Both too little and too much have harmful effects. The first signs of a testosterone excess include increased aggressiveness, acne and oily skin. In the long run, there are serious consequences such as heart failure, strokes or infertility.

What can I learn from the Testosterone Test?

This test helps determine whether your testosterone levels are within a healthy balance. It provides valuable insights into your hormonal health, which can impact various aspects of your physical and emotional well-being.

My results are very different from the last blood values I did at the doctor's. Why is that?

The values of blood and saliva tests cannot be compared. Significant differences between blood and saliva tests are: (1) Blood tests are not able to distinguish the protein-bound (inactive) from the freely available and active hormones and thus give an approximate value. Why is that important? Because the blood values can be within the normal range, but if you look at the active hormones, deficiencies or excesses can also be found. (2) Blood tests show the hormone levels outside the cells in the serum and do not reflect the other levels in the body where they are actually active. (3) If you use transdermal hormones as part of hormone replacement therapy (i.e. absorbed through the skin), blood values are not accurate for the check. This is because hormones once absorbed into the blood through the skin bind to the red blood cell membranes to minimize adverse interactions with the aqueous plasma, since most hormones "love fat" and thus prefer to bind to fats. As soon as your blood sample is taken, it is usually centrifuged and the red blood cells together with the hormones are removed before analysis. This phenomenon has been described by Stanczyk et al. (2005) for transdermal progesterone but it also seems to occur to a small extent for all other hormones as well. For a comparison of values, it is therefore essential that both tests be carried out using the same method, ideally even in the same laboratory.
