Who should take the test?

Our Lyme Disease Test is recommended for those who have been exposed to tick-prone areas, experienced tick bites, or exhibit symptoms suggestive of Lyme disease.

Lyme Disease, caused by Borrelia burgdorferi and transmitted through tick bites, is the most prevalent tick-borne infection in the US, primarily found in the northeast, mid-Atlantic, and north-central regions. It progresses through three clinical stages, potentially resulting in various health problems if left untreated. Timely detection and treatment are therefore crucial to prevent long-term complications.

Important notes:
  • The antibodies take several weeks to build up in the bloodstream, so taking the test before 4-6 weeks have passed may result in a false negative result.
  • Cross Reactivity: There is the potential for this test to produce a false positive result in people with Epstein – Barr virus or Toxoplasma.
  • If you were previously diagnosed with Lyme disease, a positive Lyme test cannot distinguish between a current and a previous infection.
  • A positive test result is not a clinical diagnosis of Lyme disease. Diagnosing Lyme disease can only be done by a medical professional. We strongly recommend consulting with your healthcare provider after receiving the results.
How does it work?

Once your order has been processed, you will be sent a blood sample collection kit. You collect your sample from the comfort of your own home and send it right back to our CLIA-certified partner laboratory. We analyze your sample and inform you that your results have been uploaded to your confidential account on our secure website.

What guidance will I get along with my results?

Following the completion of the analysis, you will receive a lab report that includes explanations for the analyzed markers and details on potential symptoms linked to imbalances. Additionally, we strongly advise that you discuss the results you receive from us with your healthcare provider or practitioner.

Moreover, additional information can be found on our website, particularly within various test categories, “health conditions,” and the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section. If you have any further inquiries, please feel free to reach out to us by sending an email to

How is my privacy protected?

Samples for our tests are collected in the privacy of your own home. Both we and our partner laboratories (which may be contracted by us to conduct some or all analyses of your test) take customer privacy very seriously.

You will be the sole person with access to this information, and we guarantee that we will not disclose your information to any unauthorized third parties. Lyme Disease

Lyme disease stands as the most prevalent vector-borne illness in the United States, transmitted via bites from infected blacklegged ticks. When untreated, it typically progresses through three clinically recognized stages:

Stage 1: Erythema migrans and influenza-like symptoms
Stage 2: Neurological manifestations
Stage 3: Lyme arthritis

Furthermore, some individuals endure Lyme disease symptoms for extended periods, extending to months or even years after the initial tick bite. This infection can disseminate to the joints or contribute to alterations in brain function, a condition known as encephalopathy.

Due to the broad array of seemingly unrelated symptoms that Lyme disease can present across the body, it often goes undiagnosed for extended periods, with up to 40% of cases not being diagnosed until a later stage of the disease.

Symptoms the Lyme Disease Test is suitable for:
  • Tiredness
  • Lack of concentration
  • Poor memory
  • Erythema migrans rash (Bull’s-Eye Rash)
  • Fever
  • Headaches
  • Facial palsy
  • Joint pain
  • Arthritis
  • Shooting pain or numbness in hands or feet

Any Questions?

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions regarding this test. Your question is missing? Please contact us at:

How is the Lyme Disease Test performed?

This test follows a two-step serological process. Firstly, an ELISA test detects antibodies against Lyme disease bacteria. If the results are positive or borderline, a second test using an automated immunoblot platform is performed, assessing how your antibodies react to specific parts of the Lyme disease bacteria. Your end-results will only be labeled as "positive" if the second test also returns a positive result. A positive result indicates past exposure to Lyme disease. However, it's important to note that a positive Lyme test cannot distinguish between a current infection and a previous one if you've been previously diagnosed. Since it may take a few weeks for detectable antibodies to accumulate in the body, a retest may be recommended if symptoms persist or if the tick bite occurred less than 4-6 weeks ago.

What is Lyme disease, and how is it transmitted?

Lyme disease is an infectious illness caused by the Borrelia burgdorferi bacterium and is primarily transmitted to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks. These ticks can carry the bacteria and transmit it during their blood-feeding process. Awareness of tick habitats, precautions, and prompt tick removal can help reduce the risk of Lyme disease in regions where infected ticks are prevalent.

Can the Lyme Disease Test distinguish between current and past infections?

If you have been previously diagnosed with Lyme disease, a positive Lyme Disease Test result cannot differentiate between a current infection and a past one.

How long after a tick bite should I wait to get tested?

The optimal timing for Lyme disease testing after a tick bite may vary, but it is generally recommended to wait at least 4-6 weeks after the bite. This waiting period allows your body sufficient time to produce detectable antibodies against the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, which causes Lyme disease. Testing too soon after the bite may yield false negative results because antibodies may not have reached a sufficient level for detection. However, if you develop symptoms such as a rash, fever, joint pain, or other signs of Lyme disease within the 4-6 week period, it's essential to consult your healthcare professional promptly, as early treatment can be crucial in such cases.

I am not getting enough blood from my finger, what can I do?

In order to draw more blood from your finger, begin by warming your hand under running warm water for a few moments and gently rotate your arm to enhance blood circulation. When it's time to prick your finger, aim for the side of the finger rather than the tip. It's often easier to use the middle or ring finger of your non-dominant hand. To prevent any involuntary withdrawal during the piercing, place your finger firmly on a stable surface. Finally, apply a gentle squeeze and massage towards the fingertip to encourage blood flow.
