How does ketosis work?
Proteins and fats instead of carbohydrates – that’s what ketogenic diet is about. Your dietry plan will contain: meat, fish, nuts and fresh vegetables. But what happens exactly in your body during the ketogenic diet?
Carbohydrates (glucose) are the main energy providers for our body. When glucose is no longer available, the body starts to produce so-called ketone bodies from fatty acids. These ketone bodies then start to supply the body cells with energy.

Ketogenic diet: A real wonder weapon
The state ‘ketosis’ is reached when your body switches from sugar to fat as its primary energy source through a lowered carbohydrate intake (less than 50g per day). This leads to many positive changes in your body.
Weight Loss
The ketogenic diet is a great way to get rid of excess pounds. Because high-fat diets saturate. Unused ketone bodies are not stored, but simply excreted with the urine.
Mental Focus
Fat provides more energy than a comparable amount of carbohydrates. Since the brain in ketosis has more available energy, it can work better and faster in the long run.
Prevents diseases
Ketone bodies protect our body from oxidative stress and are already used in various therapies and for prevention. Among other things, positive effects have been observed in connection with ketosis for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, some types of cancer and high blood pressure.

Avoid mistakes when going on a ketogenic diet!
1. Not all fats are good
In ketogenic diet, the right fatty acids are essential. This means that you should not eat primarily animal fats (meat). You should also avoid refined and industrially processed fats. Instead, we recommend a high proportion of omega-3 fatty acids such as flax, rapeseed and olive oil. Your diet should also include green vegetables. The more healthy fats you consume, the more effectively your body can metabolize them. However, it takes some time for the body to do this at the beginning.
Can a ketogenic diet be dangerous? Ketosis should not be confused with ketoascidosis – an acidosis of the body that is actually harmful. It can occur when being in ketosis for a long time.
2. Not all low carbohydrate foods are good
Not all foods with a low carbohydrate content are good for everyone. For example, nuts contain a lot of copper. People with copper surplus in their tissues should avoid them.
3. Keep the balance
We know, of course, that it is very difficult to keep up a diet that is almost completely without carbohydrates. In the long run, very few people will and should completely live without carbohydrates – it is therefore important to focus more on complex carbohydrates in moderate amounts. For example, spelt flour, wholemeal noodles or sweet potatoes.

Faster in ketosis with MCT
Ketosis is great: It gives you energy, breaks down pathogens and helps you to lose weight. Awesome! How can you promote this?
To help the body to get into ketosis faster, you should take MCTs regularly. The medium-chain fatty acids are converted directly in the liver into ketone bodies, which are immediately available to your body and brain as a source of energy. MCT is found to a large extent in coconut fat or in pure MCT oil, which is much better suited for ketogenic nutrition. You can use the MCT oil for various recipes such as Bulletproof Coffee or Smoothies.
